Our Take

Rippling is the ambitious platform that actually pulled off being good at multiple things. It’s payroll, benefits, and compliance (like Gusto). But it also manages devices, applications, and access control. When someone joins, Rippling provisions their laptop, creates their accounts, sets up SSO — all automatic. When they leave, it deprovisioning everything, revokes access across tools, secures company data.

For distributed teams, this is huge. You’re not managing ten different vendor relationships for IT stuff. Your CTO doesn’t have to babysit device setup. Your Chief People Officer isn’t manually creating accounts in Slack, GitHub, and Google. Rippling does it. And it does it securely, with audit trails that actually matter.

The downside is price and configuration. It starts at $8/user/month and goes up from there. You’ll spend time getting it right initially. But once it’s running, it saves you hours per hire and eliminates the chaos of coordinating device setup across vendors. If you’re growing past 20 people, the time and security value probably justifies the cost.
