Our Take

ConvertKit is the email platform I recommend to creators who just want things to work without overthinking it. The 10,000 free subscriber limit is genuinely competitive—that’s enough room to validate product-market fit before you’re paying a dime. And the interface is actually built for people who code in other languages, not for marketers who live and breathe segments and automations.

The real value is simplicity. Want to send a broadcast email? Two clicks. Need a subscriber sequence that nurtures people over 30 days? The automation builder is straightforward enough that you can set it up in under an hour. That matters when you’re wearing ten hats and email is just one of them. The forms and landing page builder do the job without being beautiful—which is exactly what you need.

Where it gets tricky is scaling. The gap between the free tier and $25/month is fine, but once you’re thinking about more advanced segmentation or conditional automation, you hit the Pro tier at $50. That pricing point assumes you’re making serious revenue from your audience. It might work great for newsletter monetization, but if you’re using email as a customer acquisition channel, you might outgrow the feature set before the economics make sense. Shop around if you need sophisticated marketing automation.
